LIHUE — Hobey Goodale ended his third year as president of the Kauai Museum Board of Directors Friday during the museum’s Founder’s Day event.
Officers on the Kauai Museum board have a three-year term, said Melissa Paterson, the museum’s public relations officer.
“I’ll still want to serve on the board,” Goodale, a very prominent visitor to the museum, said.
During the Kauai Museum membership meeting, which is part of the Founder’s Day event, members re-elected Kelly McGannon, currently the board treasurer, David Scott, Galyn Tamagawa-Fujii and John Constantino back onto the board.
Constantino preceded Goodale as the president, serving for three years before handing the gavel to Goodale.
Goodale is expected to transfer the office to Maryanne Kusaka, Paterson said. Goodale will fill the vice presidency.
Keith Holdemann will be the board secretary and McGannon will continue as treasurer.
Catherine Lo, who served as the librarian from 1961 — when the buildings were the Lihue Public Library — told guests about her experiences as librarian.
Jane Gray, the museum’s director, said she recently received a written narrative discussing the library’s logo and its Hawaiian motto.
She also presented an update to the board about the museum’s move to transition into the age of modern technology, including the updated website and the use of social media as it moves into its next 50 years.
Established in 1960, the Kauai Museum is celebrating its 53rd year, serving as a gathering place for people to actively learn about Kauai and Niihau’s past, present and future.
