LIHUE — Nick Hermann of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa team was the 100th place winner, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce Sunday in Poipu.
Playing at the Poipu Bay Golf Course, the Kauai Chamber of Commerce hosted its 10th annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. The 10th place winner in the tournament was Holbin Akiona of the HMS Host team. Akiona also pocketed the Golf for Four and Lunch for Four at the Club at Kukuiula, which was distributed as a prize.
Warren Wataya finished with a 62 to win the GHIN flight followed by Lester Kodama with a 64 net.
Mala Pfahler topped the women’s GHIN flight with a 64, with Sharron Weber four strokes back at a 68 net.
Ben Robson netted a 64 to top the Perioa men or women flight, which was followed by Chris D’Angelo who carded a 65 net for the runner-up spot.
Gerald McKenna, Robert MacDougal, John Hilyard and Lito Medina made up the McKenna Recovery Center team and ended with a 276 to take the Corporate Team Challenge.
Mark Chinen, Sean English, Teo Serrano and Chris Simon formed Sheraton Kauai 2, which finished with a 280.8 for the runner up spot.
Other winners in the tournament included Russell Shimazu getting Closest to the Hole No. 3 and Morton Yamasaki getting Closest to the Hole No. 7.
Stella Bumacod earned the $1,000 travel voucher, and Brian Fujiuchi earned the 30,000-mile, equivalent to two roundtrip airfare tickets, from Hawaiian Airlines.
Harold Taira ended up on the lucky ticket for the random drawing of golfers who “hit the green on Hole No. 11.”
