The 33rd annual Ha‘ena to Hanalei 8-mile fun run is scheduled June 1.
The race starts at Ke‘e Beach and follows the highway to the finish line at Hanelei Pier.
About 600 people are expected for Ha‘ena to Hanalei, along with a 5K and a kids’ run.
There will be a free shuttle bus to the starting in line Ha‘ena, leaving the Hanalei Pier beginning at 4:45 a.m., with the last shuttle for walkers at 5:15, and for runners at 6:20.
Runners in the eight-miler begin at 7 a.m., with walkers heading out at 6.
The course begins at the end of the road in Ha‘ena, follows the scenic stretch and one-lane bridges along the North Shore toward Hanalei. Runners turn left at Anae Road after Waioli Bridges.
The 5K run starts at 7 at the pier. A youth run also starts at 7 at the pier.
Cost is $35 for the 8-miler and 5K if registered by May 24. It’s $45 on race day. It’s $10 for kids 14 and under for the youth run.
The entry fee includes the pancake breakfast and a T-shirt. There will be awards, too. Race packet pick up and late registration is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 31 at the Hanalei Canoe Club or at the Haneli Pier beginning at 4:45 a.m. on race day.
Ha‘ena to Hanalei is put on by the Hanalei Canoe Club as a fundraiser.
It is considered one of the most scenic runs in the country.
