Catherine Pfeffer
Catherine Ham Young Pfeffer of Wainiha passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 27, 2013, at the age of 82. She was born in Wainiha on August 11, 1930, and was the proprietor of Black Pot Restaurant.
She is survived by her husband Gary “Bundy” Pfeffer of Wainiha; four sons, Rick (Denise) Ham Young of Wainiha; Warren (Susan) Ham Young of Princeville; Dadly “Bobo” Ham Young of Wainiha; Shaindlin (Kris) Ham Young of Wainiha; siblings, Annie (Thomas) Hashimoto of Kilauea; Henry (Erica) Tai Hook of Aiea; Florence Kaona of Kapaa; Wilbert (Lilly) Tai Hook of Kalihiwai; Eleanor Haumea of Wainiha; Travis “Momi” (Jerry) Tubal of Kahuku; Rhona (Togo) Hermosura of Kilauea; Kimberly Tai Hook of Kapaa; David “China” Haumea of Anahola; Miriam (William) Texeira of Alaska; Frances “Leina” Kaneakua of Kapaa; Flora Iseri of Kapaa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Wai’oli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei with visitation from 8:00 a.m. and services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Paina to follow at Waipa.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Masakazu Minei
Masakazu Minei, 83, of Waimea, Kauai, passed away at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital on May 10, 2013. Born on March 5, 1930 in Lawai, Kauai, he was a Radar Technician with PMRF Barking Sands.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Minei of Waimea; son, Marvin Minei of Waimea; daughter, Sandra R. Souza of Omao; brother, Masahiro Minei of Honolulu; sister, Gladys Komesu of Arizona; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces.
A private service was held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Kenneth Konishi
Kenneth Konishi of Wailua Houselots passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on May 8, 2013, at the age of 79. He was born in Eleele on February 6, 1934, and retired from U.S. Geological Survey as a Hydraulic Engineer Technician.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tatsuichi and Eiko Konishi; brother, Charles Konishi; sisters, Sachiko (Fumio) Hanki; Harumi (Kumeo) Amaki; brothers-in-law, Tom Matsuoka; Isao Ito.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Konishi; son, Keith (Natalie) Konishi; daughter, Melanie (Aaron) Furugen; sisters, Ann Matsuoka; Yaeko Ito; Edith (Masami) Kojiri; sister-in-law, Betty Konishi; five grandchildren, Joni (Norman) Matsuzaki; Ryan (Tysha) Konishi; Teri Konishi; Kira (Earl) Furugen; Kahai Furugen; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cody Matsuzaki and Isaiah Konishi.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Kapaa with visitation from 3:00 p.m. and services celebrated at 4:00 p.m.

Robert “Bob” Gilmore
Robert “Kau’i” “Bob” Gilmore of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii Passed away on May 17, 2013 at his home at the age of 69. Born on July 5, 1943 in Lahaina, Maui He was a teacher at Kalaheo Elementary School and former president of HSTA, Kauai Chapter.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Gilmore; sister, Darlene N. Fauhiva. He is survived by: mother, Florence W. Yoshino, Maui; sister, Luana Kama, Maui; brother, Hamlin (Linda) Gilmore, Maui; Numerous Aunties & Uncles ,nieces & nephews Cousins and friends.
A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday May 23, 2013 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation at 5:00 P.M. Service at 6:00 P.M. Family suggest casual attire and flowers to be omitted.
