LIHU‘E — Kalei Kanehe netted a hat trick to lead the No. 4 Northshore Nation to a 3-1 win over the No. 2 seed Lihu‘e Arsenal on Saturday.
The Northshore Nation win was one of three upsets in the Kaua‘i Soccer Association Championship Day at the North Vidinha fields.
Keian Celebrado scored the sole goal for the Arsenal in the Boys Under 8 division.
Cheyann Fujii netted two goals and Kaylee Overmyer added a score as the No. 2 Pohaku GU12 upset top-seeded FC Northshore GU12, 3-2 in the Girls Under 12 division title fight.
“This is going to be a really good game,” said Jane Garma, KSA official, while distributing medals and trophies to the younger division games. “The game just started and the girls are very physical.”
When the dust settled on the 3-2 edge, Gabriela Anakalea and Soleil Errico got credit for FC Northshore GU12 scores.

Jessica Hreliac struck in the 17th minute to give top-seeded Lihu‘e Cougars a 1-0 edge over the No. 3 Futsal Kaua‘i GU10 for the title in the Girls Under 10 division.
Carlos Lang was the difference for Team Onipa‘a BU10, which took a 1-0 win over No. 3 seed Team Onipa‘a BU11 ’02 Boys for the crown in the Boys Under 10 division.
Andrew King scored a goal in overtime to break a scoreless contest and earn the title in the Boys Under 12 division for Team Onipa‘a BU12 ’01 Boys over the efforts of Team Onipa‘a BU11 ’02 Boys.
Kaisha Davis-Caberto had two goals and Lyndsie Kashima added one to lead top-seeded Kaua‘i Sparks to a 3-1 win over the No. 3 seed Kaua‘i Rush GU14, which got its goal from April Barnes.
Madison Moore and Janae Souza each netted hat tricks, or three goals scored, to lead the Kaua‘i Rush GU16 to a 6-2 win over Team Onipa‘a GU16, which got goals from Rachel Semblante and Brianna Griep in the finale of the spring season.
