LIHU‘E — A third man connected with a series of burglaries and thefts pleaded no contest in three cases Monday in 5th Circuit Court.
Frank Anthony Kaiwa Kareem Daligdig, 30, of Lihu‘e, appeared in custody.
He has been held at Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center since his arrest in one of the cases on Nov. 26, 2012.
Daligdig appeared with his court-appointed defense attorney George White. He accepted a plea agreement to resolve felony charges of second-degree burglary, first-degree unauthorized entry into a vehicle, second-degree theft, and as principle or accomplice to unauthorized entry.
Another unauthorized control charge in a fourth case will be dismissed, according to the terms of the plea deal.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Tobin represented the state. He is asking for the full prison term. The plea deal also allows the defense to request probation with up to 18 months in jail.
Chief Judge Randal Valenciano set sentencing for Sept. 19. Daligdig faces five-year sentences for each of the felony charges. An extended terms of sentencing is allowable for multiple felonies, and he could serve up to 40 years in prison.
The crimes allegedly occurred between Aug. 19 and Sept. 5, 2012. There are two co-defendants involved with one of Daligdig’s cases.
Kamron Aaron Cortez was sentenced to an 18-month jail term and a five-year probation on May 9. He was convicted in 12 cases that involved eight home break-ins, six car thefts, 10 car break-ins and thefts in excess of $40,000.
Aron Nagao, 19, pleaded no contest on April 18, to 12 cases involving 17 charges of burglary, theft and credit card theft.
He has a motion to defer acceptance of his no contest plea set for Aug. 8, where he also faces a prison term of 10 years or more if probation is denied.
