PUHI — Globe trotting journalists Hiroko Nagayama and Naoko Okamoto were busy scouring the Kaua‘i Community Market Saturday at Kaua‘i Community College.
The pair of journalists for the Globe Trotter Travel Guide Book were investigating Moloa‘a Bay Coffee, primarily sold at the markets offered in partnership with the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau.
“They’re checking out some accommodations, Kaua‘i Sweets and Hawaiian food,” said Art Umezu, the Kaua‘i Film commissioner who was accompanying the journalists and interpreting for them as they visited some of the vendors.
Umezu said in addition to the Moloa‘a Bay Coffee, the journalists for the popular Japanese travel guide are scheduled to visit Sandy Poehnelt and The Right Slice, and Bobby Kubota and Pono Market for its sweet potato dishes.
Some of the places the pair have already visited include Ara’s in Hanama‘ulu for its poke, Passion Bakery and the Papalani Gelato shop in Nawiliwili.
While checking out Kaua‘i, Umezu said the pair have been hosted by Wyndham in Princeville and have stops scheduled for the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort in Po‘ipu, the Koa Kea Hotel, and the Courtyard by Marriott at the Coconut Beach.
Liz Hahn of Kaua‘i Bettas said the exposure is good to promote the island and its locally made products.
