NAWILIWILI — Matson Navigation lent its support to the Kaua‘i United Way with a contribution of $9,500 Friday.
In the shadow of the “Waialeale” container barge preparing to get underway, Dewayne Kong, manager of the Matson Nawiliwili port, said Matson Navigation was glad to be part of the community support.
“I never realized how broad the Kaua‘i United Way is,” Kong said. “There are 28 agencies which help out the community through its variety of services. That is quite a bit, and Matson is glad to support the community.”
Formerly, Matson Navigation supported the KUW through the A&B Foundation, but after spinning off from A&B Hawai‘i, it has quickly become one of the largest corporate contributors, said Scott Giarman, KUW executive director.
