Kanani Beniamina, the Kekaha homeowner whose home was the beneficiary of the Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Saturday, was moved to beyond words when Les Gushiken (he even brought freshly-baked poi bread) presented her with a bag of freshly-made Waipa poi.
There’s something about these local-style chicken-skin moments like the showers which greeted Kumu Kehau Kekaulani, Renae Hamilton, Larry and Toshie Mendonca Wednesday to conclude the blessing and dedication of the Sandy G. Memorial Garden at the YWCA building.
Kawaikini students’ Aulii Ka‘auwai-Herrod, Kamalani Hopkins and Kalelei Rogers impromptu hula using a cell phone to lead at the Kaua‘i Community Market has no pricetag — just good chicken skin.
Congratulations to Chloe Stokes who will be graduating this year. Chloe was helping Coach Orlando “O” Anaya with the Learn to Swim class Wednesday and said she’ll be doing her tests online because she’s a home study student. She did attend the Kaua‘i Community College graduation, but only as a spectator. Once the tests are done, Chloe said the other home study school students will probably get together for a small celebration.
Congratulations to all the graduates! Well done!
