WAIPOULI – The county Department of Water has scheduled a water outage for customers in the Kapa‘a-Waipouli area from 10 tonight until 6 a.m. Friday.
The shutdown will allow the department’s contractor, Goodfellow Bros., to connect a temporary bypass waterline to the existing system, according to a DOW release.
This project is part of Water Plan 2020, the DOW’s comprehensive, long-range plan to replace or repair aging infrastructure.
During the outage, customers along Kuhio Highway — from the Keaka Road intersection to the ‘Inia Street intersection — will have no water service. Those along Kipuni Way, Panihi, Akoa and Akia roads will also have no service.
A detailed map of all affected areas can be viewed online at www.kauaiwater.org.
Affected customers are advised to store enough water to meet their needs during the outage and notify family, friends and neighbors that may be affected by the outage.
When the water main is turned back on, it is possible that air will be mixed with the water. If this happens, the water will appear white or milky in color. The air in the water will dissipate after a while and should not be cause for alarm, the release said.
