LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i has now joined the rest of the island counties in placing the county code online.
The Kaua‘i County Council, through the Office of the County Clerk, has made the recently codified version of the Kaua‘i County Code 1987, as amended and is now available on the Council’s Web site. The moved was part of an effort to increase transparency and reduce the use of paper, according to a county news release.
The county code can be found by logging on to www.kauai.gov and linking to the Kaua‘i County Council site. It is also located in the “What’s New” box on the County of Kaua‘i’s homepage.
The code is updated regularly and the county adds that the electronic version is provided for information only, and should not be considered the official version of the code. The official printed version should be referenced before citing provisions of the code.
If inconsistencies exist between the electronic version and the official printed code or the underlying ordinances, the official legislation will be considered definitive.
The public may request and purchase a hard copy of the Kaua‘i County Code and its corresponding ordinances at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division, at the Historic County Building, 4396 Rice Street, Suite 209, Lihu’e, Hawai‘i, 96766 or by calling 241-4188.
For more information, please contact Council Chair Jay Furfaro at the Office of the County Clerk, Council Services Division at 241-4188.
