Kristyn Vasconcelles earned All Around Cowgirl honors and Cora Murayama finished as Reserve All Around at the Kaua‘i All Girl Rodeo Association.
Kristyn topped the Steer Undecorating where she copped Fast Time honors, Breakaway Roping and teamed with Alexis Vasconcelles as the heeler for top honors in the Dally Team Roping event to lead the field at the rodeo held recently at the CJM Country Stables in Po‘ipu.
Kristyn finished second in the First D of the 3D Barrel Racing and first in the Second D Barrels before finishing second in the Second D of Pole Bending to round out her winnings.
Murayama finished fourth in the First D Barrels, third in the Steer Undecorating and fifth in the Breakaway events to round out her winnings.
Kristyn moved her steed to a 2.69 go in the Steer Undecorating where she topped the field on a 5.98/2 average followed by Marti Snyder (6.30/2), Murayama (6.63/2), Kim Medeiros (6.85/2) and Janine Wilson (14.88/2).
Despite Sandra Akita, another strong contender for leader position, getting the Fast Time of 3.42 in the Breakaway Roping, Kristyn held on to finish with a 7.40/2 average for top honors in the event. She was followed by Kira Pimental (9.24/2), Hallie Cristobal (12.35/2), Tami Yamamoto (13.48/2), and Murayama (13.49/2).
The team of Tara Fernandez and Tierra Rapozo copped the Fast Time of 9.48 in the Dally Team event, but the team of Alexis and Kristyn Vasconcelles topped the field on a 24.65/2 average followed by the pair of Karen Akita and Joyce Miranda posting a 31.02/2 average. Eliza Vierra and Hallie Cristobal, returning home from college, posted a 35.67/2 average for third place followed by the Fernandez and Rapozo duo at 9.12 on one go. The team of Wilson and Kim Medeiros rounded out the leaderboard at 11.55/2 average.
Sandra Akita topped the Barrels, posting a 17.671 go in the First D followed by Kristyn at 18.294, Vierra at 18.307, Murayama at 18.323, and Cheyanne Tannery at 18.343.
Kristyn topped the Second D at 19.338 followed by Kira Pimental (18.342), Wailana Blackstad (19.497), Nancy McMahon (19.500), and Coryssa Silva (19.720).
Christie Castillo topped the Third D at 20.963 followed by Nalani Palama-Soares (21.136), Vierra (21.739), Elise Silva (21.8), and Yamamoto (24.041).
Sanda Akita also topped the Pole Bending event, stopping the clock at 21.720 to top the First D followed by Wendy Tannery (22.155) and Coryssa Silva (22.939).
Blackstad topped the Second D at 23.725 followed by Kristyn (23.923), Brianne Matsuyama (24.547), Cristina Dela Fuente (24.635), and McMahon (24.711).
Bongo Lee stopped the Third D on a 26.920 go followed by Kapua Sugai (27.497), Nalani Palama-Soares 927.931), Tammy Pu‘u (28.701) and Joyce Miranda (29.465).
Kim Medeiros had the Fast Time in the Goat Tying event with an 11.10 go, but Alexis Vasconcelles topped the event with a 25.21 average followed by Snyder (25.31), Medeiros (25.45), Cheyanne Tannery (28.08) and Cristobal (29.43).
The next KAGRA rodeo will be held June 30 at the CJM Country Stables with the Grand Entry starting at 10 a.m.
