WAIPAHU — After a dismal offensive performance in the opening round of the 2013 Wally Yonamine Foundation Division II Baseball Championships, the Kapa‘a High School Warriors bounced back to get into the win column Friday at Hans L’Orange Park in Waipahu.
Kapa‘a put a hurting on Kaimuki to the tune of an 8-0 victory.
The Warriors’ bats woke up early and in the third inning Kapa‘a put three runs on the board on a pair of hits from pinch-hitters Tommy Stern and D.J. Lacaden. Lacaden finished the game with a double and 2 RBIs.
Although Kapa‘a went on to score five more runs in the fourth inning, it never needed them as the Warriors never gave an inch on defense or on the mound. Rashan Kuhaulua and Keola Lutz combined for the shutout, which lasted five innings due to a time limit.
Nick Tabura also added to the offensive attack with a 2 for 3 day.
With the win the Warriors move on to play for fifth place today at 12 p.m. Kapa‘a will take on Konawaena High School of of the Big Island.
