KAPA‘A — The Wailua-Kapa‘a Neighborhood Association’s will discuss the criminal justice process at its monthly meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. May 25 at the Kapa‘a Public Library. The meeting is free and open to the public.
County of Kaua‘i Prosecuting Attorney Justin Kollar will discuss the functions of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and how it impacts citizens and the criminal justice process.
The agency is responsible for prosecuting offenses against the laws of the state, and the ordinances and regulations of the county.
After winning election last November, and taking office a month later, Kollar instituted an open-door policy. Some of his goals include working to solve 18 cold case homicides, and to form a Zoning Enforcement Unit to enforce transient vacation rental (TVR) violations in collaboration with the County Planning Department.
The business portion of the meeting will include updates on local issues including an overview of the proposed Kapa‘a Elementary School Library.
