Kaua‘i GMO’s
This letter is a response to the article “On regulation of genetically modified crops” that appeared in the Editorial Roundup on April 17 in the Garden Island.
I was amazed, frankly, at the poorly researched, inaccurate and ultimately harmful information expressed by the writer from the East Oregonian who speaks as if he is spreading the gospel truth.
I could easily write a dissertation dismembering the glaring inaccuracies of the article. However, rather than writing an extensive letter here, I am suggesting simple Internet searches which will provide a more in depth understanding of the GMO situation.
Contrary to the East Oregonian’s arguments, there is a vast array of scientific evidence available that provides exhaustive information on the science behind genetically modified foods.
Just do a search for “Documented Studies of GMOs,” and then, do a search for “Monsanto prevents research” and you will find that Monsanto has used its immense financial clout to hinder numerous kinds of investigative reporting on the effects of GMOs.
I implore you to educate yourself about GMOs and the imminent dangers they pose to us, now, and to future generations here on Kaua’i. Simple Internet searches are all it takes to get educated; find out about such things as “Terminator Seeds” (yes, find out the chilling story behind “Terminator Seeds”). “GMO labeling” (why in the world is labeling such a threat to GMO companies), and do a search for Jeffrey Smith, whose meticulous research documents how biotech companies continue to mislead legislators and safety officials to put the health of society at risk, and the environment in peril … in this case, our Kauaian environment. His DVD, “Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives” is a powerful, and disarming expose of GMO practices.
All of the above is easily researched. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence exposing the falsehoods of Monsanto and other GMO companies.
Please, find out for yourself; educate yourselves and come to your own conclusions.
What else can I say?

‘You are un-American’
Much to Mr. Rowley’s comment on his personal experience to the community survey that is about to take place, I too was treated by Mr. Henry is a manner not even a dog would stand for without taking a bite out of him.
In 2010, Henry visited my home at a time most inconvenient and even after several requests to return another time. He refused.
After several repeated request to come back another time since we were expecting our children and grandchildren over for dinner he refused.
His comments stating, “you are un-American” makes me sick to see that is the best this U.S. Government can do in people.
No wonder we’re in this pickle jar as we are today.
Eventually I refused to take his survey and told him he can take his “un-American” attitude and shove it!
What followed was repeated phone calls from Henry with threats of disobedience to the government and I’ll go to jail.
Well, it’s been three years and running and still no jail.
I stand to encourage every individual to truly consider your heart before sitting with this guy.

Save Coco Palms
Coco palms on my mind. I have a lot of good memories of the old Coco Palms hotel from my childhood. Fishing in the lagoons for talapia, checking out the animals in the small zoo back in the coconut grove, playing tennis at the tennis club. One more thing stands out in my mind is as a boy.
I would ride my bike down from the house lots and go pick up and then husk coconuts behind the chapel .
Good times, that I believe helped me to be the man I am today.
Save the Coco Palms property and give it back to the community and future generations.
