KAPA‘A – A 21-year-old Kapa‘a woman was found dead in her home Friday afternoon, and police say they suspect foul play.
“At this time we do have a person of interest in custody that may have more information to help us understand the circumstances that led to the victim’s death,” said Roy Asher, assistant chief of the investigative services bureau.
The woman was found dead in her room at the Kawaihau Sports Villa condominium at around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Police have not released her identity.
Police spent the day looking for the woman’s 26-year-old roommate, who was wanted for questioning in connection with her death. He was located at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and remains in police custody.
“The investigation into the cause of the victim’s death is preliminary and ongoing, but detectives have reason to suspect foul play,” said a press release.
An autopsy is scheduled Monday.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the victim,” said Kaua‘i Police Chief Darryl Perry. “Please be assured that while every investigation of this kind is unique to its own set of circumstances, KPD will work in conjunction with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to use every resource available to identify and apprehend any offender.”
