Waimea High School hit three home runs, including a grand slam, to spark a 22-3 romp and complete a doubleheader sweep of the Kapa‘a High School Saturday at the Waimea Canyon Park.
Ulu Matagiese conked two home runs with five runs batted in to lead the Menehune to a 19-1 win in the opener, both games shortened by the 10-run rule.
Deannalynn Tafiti picked up the win on the mound for both games, finishing the opening game by allowing a run on two hits while striking out one hitter and walking none.
In the second game, she surrendered five hits while striking out five and walking none.
Aliyah Cummings suffered the loss for Kapa‘a in Game 1, giving up 15 hits while striking out one and walking four.
Kalia Kaui took the loss in game two, giving up six hits, including two homers, while striking out three and walking three.
Anuhea Huddy tripled in the opening game. Analeigha Carvalho-Toloai, strong against the Kaua‘i team, Wednesday, hit a home run for the Warrior’s sole score in game one.
Huddy led the Warriors in the nightcap with a single and a double, scoring twice and driving in a run. Cummings singled and scored once, Kaui singled, Carvalho-Toloai singled along with Kelsie Gorospe-Keli‘ipuleole and Chelsey Alfiler.
Kristy Pimental homered, scored three times and drove in four runs for Wiamiea in game one, followed by Sienna Santiago getting a double, scoring three times and marking two RBI. Alyssa Miyamoto nailed a double, scored once and marked two RBI.
First base Bailey San Agustin-Nordmeier singled twice, scored twice and marked an RBI. Bryana Resquer-Yorkman singled, scored once and drove in a run along with Taylor Lazaro.
Kiani Kamakea singled and marked two RBI, Bethany Tangalin singled and scored twice, and Jaelyn Rivera-Jacinto scored once in Game 1.
Miyamoto had three hits in the second game, including a homer and two singles with six RBI.
Tyrelle Unciano homered and singled, scoring twice and getting four RBI. Matagiese had a homer and scored twice, driving in one RBI. Bailey San Agustin-Nordmeier singled and doubled with two RBI and scored twice to round out the hitting leaders.
Waimea travels to Isenberg Park, Monday afternoon for a doubleheader against Kaua‘i starting at 3 p.m.
