LIHU‘E — The MayJah RayJah music festival, a well-known event on O‘ahu, crashes Kaua‘i for the first time tonight in Kapaia.
This major night of reggae will feature New Zealand-based band Katchafire, California’s Common Kings and Kaua‘i’s own The Green Stone Project. DJ Mike D from O‘ahu will keep the dance party going between performances.
The all-ages, rain-or-shine event opens at 6 p.m. in an open field area on Maalo Road — the road to Wailua Falls — in Kapaia.
General admission tickets cost $35, plus fees. VIP tickets and hotel packages are also available. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Kaua‘i Keiki and High School Rodeo Association.
Advance tickets are available at Rob’s Good Time Grill, Tamba Surf Store, Progressive Expressions Surf Store, the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel and online at www.mayjahrayjah.com.
MayJah RayJah is also teaming up with Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i and Surfrider Kaua‘i to assist both nonprofit organizations in raising funds to clean Kaua‘i’s beaches. A coordinated beach cleanup will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Hanalei Bay Pier.
