Kudos to Kathy Shanks and the STEPS Committee on another great Parent and Child Fair Saturday at Kukui Grove Center.
Joanne Parongao had a busy day taking care of Tsunami Taiko, which opened the event, getting Waimea High School’s Hawaiian dance class going, and ending the day at the East Kaua‘i Lions Club Charter 75th Anniversary.
Jim “Papa Jim” Jung had the right idea, getting his granddaughter Mailah Jung (is that Ian Jung’s daughter?) going with a full schedule, including checking out the lifeguards at Home Depot, making bracelets at the STEPS event and seeing 50 percent off on toys at the Big Kmart.
Rebecca Smith was busy at the STEPS event, collecting signatures for a Smoke Free Car petition and continued the effort Monday night at the Alcohol Awareness Month town meeting in Waimea.
Kudos to Theresa Koki, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., and all involved in this event, which Marty Amaro said is growing each year. Mahalo, too, to Thomas Nizo for the great hospitality at the historic Waimea Theater.
