LIHU‘E — Unknown artists can get their first step at the Unknown Artist Faire, said Sarah Tochiki, a teacher at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School.
“The first Unknown Artist Faire was the idea of a couple of local artists and was a big success,” Tochiki said. “Some of the participating artists from the first Faire are no longer ‘unknown.’”
The Unknown Artist Faire is seeking artists who work with any medium, including the performing arts, mixed media and visual.
The Unknown Artist Faire not only helps the school with fundraising, it also allows artists who are up and coming to be highlighted.
The Unknown Artist Faire will be held in conjunction with the monthly CKMS Street Fair on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at CKMS.
Tochiki said in addition to unknown artists, the organizers of the monthly event are seeking operators of lunch wagons or food trucks.
They will join the ever-growing list of regular vendors including Paco’s Tacos, JC’s Puerto Rican Kitchen, Hanalei Taro and Juice Co., Yamato’s Ice Cream and Granny’s Feelgoods Kettlecorn.
Tochiki said one of the new additions for Saturday’s event is Rocco’s Pizza and CocoBana’s.
Proceeds from the CKMS event will benefit the Advancement Via Individual Determination Program, or AVID, and CKMS PTSA.
