Ocean Safety officials warn the public that a high surf warning remains in effect for all north and west facing shores on Kaua’i and Ni’ihau until at least 6 a.m. Saturday.
Due to the hazardous conditions, lifeguards have closed all North Shore beaches to swimming today, from Ke‘e Beach to Anahola.
Large breaking surf, significant shore breaks, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous. The National Weather Service warns that anyone entering the water in these areas could face significant injury or death.
Those wishing to swim today are urged to visit Po‘ipu or Salt Pond beaches and are reminded to always swim near a lifeguard tower.
