KAPA‘A — People took advantage of the clearing skies and warm sun Sunday to attend the Easter Sunday Day of Hope event at the Kapa‘a Beach Park, hosted by the ‘Ohana Christian Fellowship.
During the service which was open to the public, artist Frank Bejo amazed the congregation, similar to how he did in 2012, having an image appear on a blank canvas in a matter of minutes, the image being inspired by the music playing in the background.
Once the image was complete, it reigned over the festivities which included the opening of the rummage area, an Easter egg hunt and lunch.
“We’re not a very big group,” said Rev. Ed Terui, the acting pastor for the Ohana Christian Fellowship. “There are about 50, or 60 people, but they do this with love and joy in their hearts.”
Terui said the ‘Ohana Christian Fellowship does this open service twice a year, once at Easter and the second one in November on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
During the Day of Hope, people, including the elderly, people in need, and the homeless, are welcome to browse through the rummage area for items they could use to help make their lives easier.
Easter would not be complete without an Easter Egg Hunt, and the ‘Ohana Christian Fellowship designated areas in the park for the different age groups of children, creating an environment where the younger children would not be trampled by the older ones.
