LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i United Way closed its 2012 Annual Campaign and in tallying the results, the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative was discovered to be the largest Kaua‘i United Way contributor.
“In a year when the KUW Campaign Committee raised the campaign goal by its largest increment, ever due to the growing needs in the community, the employees of KIUC responded,” said Scott Giarman, KUW executive director, in an email. “Not only was this the best KIUC KUW campaign, it was the best KUW campaign by any employee group, ever.”
Giarman said adding to the success of the KIUC campaign, the management of KIUC has matched the total of the employee gifts resulting in KIUC becoming the largest corporate contributor.
“Being able to raise more money, a disproportionate increase goes to our participating agencies,” Giarman said. “All this money will remain on Kaua‘i, providing badly-needed social services in our community, which save lives every day on our island.”
Giarman said although the 2012 Annual Campaign is closed, the Kaua‘i United Way is accepting contributions toward its 2013 Annual Campaign.
