Other options over Green Energy Team
Two biomass energy LLC’s are operating on Kaua‘i: Green Energy Team, LLC and Hawai‘i BioEnergy, LLC. The $73 million Hawaiian biomass facility that will generate electricity from wood chips is owned by Green Energy Team, LLC.
My understanding of a LLC is that it merges partnership and corporation structure, which means full limited-liability protection to all owners, easy kine tax status, a second safeguard of liability protection for the business if there are any lawsuits, no personal responsibly for actions (no consequences for disasters) and a potential for overturned judgments in court — since LLC’s are fairly new in the arena of precedent setting lawsuits. Meaning, LLCs have lots of free reign.
BioEnergy LLC, is a partnership that includes Grove Farm, Kamehameha Schools and Maui Land & Pineapple Co. to grow biofuels to sell to Hawaiian Electric Co., and to generate electricity on O‘ahu.”
It’s also common knowledge that Grove Farm billionaire Steve Case is a major shareholder in Maui Land & Pineapple.
Secondly, Green Energy Team, LLC is negotiating with Department of Hawaiian Home Lands for 2,143 acres of land at Anahola for eucalyptus instead of accommodating the 40,000 Native Hawaiians that are on the waiting list.
Tuesday is Prince Kuhio’s Birthday — and he would be saddened.
Eucalyptus is highly combustive, high in volatile oil and with drought conditions: brush fires!
I’m a proponent of cutting our addiction to fossil fuels, but we don’t need to risk Kaua‘i going up in flames (and the safety of firefighters and first responders?) when there is a safe solution: solar thermal.

Instead of focusing on Bush, look at Obama
In response to John Zwiebel’s March 22 letter to the editor: I am not a huge Bush fan, but the Iraq war was not a Bush only war as it was sanctioned by Congress and the United Nations — this means that leaders and analysts from all around the world saw the intel and agreed that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and that war was the option to take.
This intel was not just collected, and therefore forged, by the U.S. it was a collection of intel from many different countries. My father is a retired brigadier general in the Air Force and worked at the Pentagon.
My brother was in Desert Storm in reconnaissance and held a TS/SCI top secret clearance. They were privy to the intel regarding the WMD and they — as well as many, many others — know that Saddam had them.
But if you are worried about lies told by our president and the ramifications of those lies, why not focus on the sitting president instead of the past?
Obama has lied to us about Benghazi, about Guantanamo, about the sequester, about drones, about fast and furious, about health care, about being the most transparent administration, about his anti-colonialism.
And let’s continue with how he recently gave billions in monies and equipment to Egypt in spite of our fiscal crisis, how he has never submitted a budget, how he circumvents Congress by appointing czars, how he disregards the Constitution, how he bypasses Congress to create laws like a banana republic dictator, how he and his family are taking multiple million-dollar vacations at a time when this country cannot afford it, etc.
There is just not enough space here to continue to list his lies, deceptions and blatant disregard for the American Dream! You were right about only one thing: We must take a stand and it must be now!

Opposed to war
Thank you, John Zwiebel, over and over and over again for your articulate, sane, sound and wonderful advice. I support you in your stand against war. I think you’d be surprised at how many people think as you do.
The people of America, that’s you and me and millions of others, must speak out. We’re fed up. We do not support those who profit from war. The oligarchs. The killing machine. The military industrial complex.
We are disgusted with those who feed on war, misery and sadness. Who ache for Armageddon. They are a sick, bloody crew. The lot of them. But decent, intelligent, sane Americans outnumber them and when the American people speak out, stand together, they do not stand a chance.
Parents, don’t let your kids be fooled by fast-talking recruiters. Vets, speak out about the horrors of war. So many of you wounded in mind, body and spirit must tell your tale. Speak your mind. Those who’ve lost loved ones, share your grief. These needless, stupid, endless wars for profit must come to an end.
I voted for Maizie, I won’t do that again. The other one? She’s exactly what I knew her to be all along. I wasn’t fooled.
