LIHU‘E — The Senate Agriculture Committee, Health Committee and Consumer Protection Committee will hold a meeting regarding House Bill 174 from 9 to 11 a.m. today in Honolulu.
HB 174 relates to the labeling and of genetically engineered organisms and places import restrictions on genetically modified produce.
A memo from the attorney general last week stated that requiring a label for imported genetically modified produce would likely be ruled unconstitutional.
The bill, first introduced in January, was stalled in the Senate, but officials announced Tuesday they would hold a public meeting today.
