Congratulations to the Waimea Senior Center on its 46th anniversary Thursday.
Naoko Ho, president of the Waimea Senior Center, said after celebrating Cherry Blossom queens last year, this year they celebrated Year of the Snake birthdays celebrated by Waimea members Millie and Basilio (you should have seen his Chinese cap) “Bunga” Fuertes, Nobue Watanabe, Yuki Okino and Naoko Ogata.
In addition to Bunga’s Chinese cap, he said Naoko Ho was the Narcissus Queen, and Russell Wellington had to solo entertain since his partner, Charlie Iona was busy with Stephanie Iona, Solette Perry and Jerry Walker hosting the students of Hawaiian language schools conference at the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Kudos to Michelle Correa, Waimea site manager, and all the Department of Parks and Recreation staff who pitched in to make the event a memorable one.
Melanie Okamoto said to stay tuned for the hanafuda workshop which she is working on.
OK, time to go check out Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. and the State of the County.
