The Kaua‘i Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, founded in September of 2012, continues to gather momentum as it recruits new members and holds more events.
Membership has been increasing steadily each month and we have representation from both business owners and industry professionals from across the island.
The latest event, the KNHCC Networking Mixer, was held on Feb. 21.
Sole Mates, located at the Coconut Marketplace and owned and operated by John Kaohelauli‘i, served as our host location and Smith’s Family Lu‘au provided the ono food.
Members, non-members, and invited guests had the opportunity to mix and mingle and get to know a little bit about Sole Mates and their success story.
“Intimate. This is the best way to describe how the evening went,” said Kaohelauli‘i. “The smaller, warmer atmosphere was perfect on a windy Kaua‘i afternoon.
Kaohelauli‘i said he got a chance to highlight his family business in a much more casual style.
“The attendees got a chance to build stronger relationships with each other as we all got a chance to share,” he said.
Kaohelauli‘i also thanked Kamika Smith for the “ono kau kau” from Smith’s Family Garden Lu‘au and sent a big mahalo to Jennifer Ingersoll and the KNHCC board members who provided the support and supplies to make this event a success, and to the new attendees who got a chance to experience just a taste of the direction this organization will go.
“Good food, good fun, good times,” he said. “I can’t wait for the next event.”
Attendees were also eligible to win fantastic prizes sponsored by Sole Mates.
Mike Martinez was the big winner, winning a chance to pick his choice of Teva footwear from the store’s inventory.
The KNHCC plans to hold quarterly Networking Mixers at other business venues across the island so visit our website at www.KNHCC.org to get more information on upcoming events and how to become a member.
