HONOLULU — After six years on the run, Peter Heckmann, the 63-year-old Kaua‘i man accused of operating a Ponzi scheme out of his recording studio, surrendered to FBI agents this morning at Honolulu Airport.
Heckmann was indicted in July, 2007, by a federal grand jury in Honolulu on seven counts of wire fraud. He’s accused of raising over $1.2 million from investors before the scheme collapsed.
He was transported to the U.S. District Courthouse in Honolulu for his initial appearance later today. He could face up to 140 years in prison, 20 years for each count of wire fraud.
