LIHU‘E — Team Lihu‘e boys and the Kaua‘i Ballers split its series during the county’s youth basketball games Saturday at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Team Lihu‘e boys Division 3, or players in the seventh and eighth grades, dropped both ends losing 35-11 to Papalina before getting edged out by the Hanapepe Sinister, 38-24.
Team Lihu‘e Girls Division 2, or players in the sixth, seventh and eighth grade, dropped a 33-12 match to the Kamikaze before Team Lihu‘e Red came back for a 55-10 win over Seacats.
During the afternoon series, the Kaua‘i Ballers Boys Division 3 squad dropped a 53-16 match to Hanakila before its Kaua‘i Ballers 2 came back to post a 46-25 win over Westside Basketball in the nightcap.
Trey Taba, Brayden Miyamoto and Gunnar Burkman each posted seven points to lead Papalina to its 35-11 win over Team Lihu‘e Red who got four points apiece from Keane Tibon and Grant Urmatam.
Hanapepe Sinisters’ Reymund Mendoza posted a game-high 18 points to lead its 38-24 win, Ardino Nedd adding nine points in the victory.
Jasper Jacinto topped the Team Lihu‘e Black with eight points followed by Tajh Mapuhi adding six points.
Monique Tomacder topped the Kamikaze 33-12 win on eight points, getting help from Lila Hearn and Sheryl Ann Tomas each dropping seven points.
Marissa Layosa topped the Team Lihu‘e Black Girls Division 2 scoring on six points with Roycie Faye adding four points.
Kealani Neves finished with a game-high 19 points to lead the Team Lihu‘e Red Girls Division 2 55-10 win over the Seacats, Ashley Lucas adding nine points with Deija Melchor and Savannath Neves each finishing with eight points.
Risa Whetsel, the Seacats’ sparkplug, topped its scoring with seven points.
Carson Schmick topped the Hanakila 53-16 win over the Kaua‘i Ballers 1 Boys Division 3 in the afternoon series, Lawrence Abela and Rafael Roslin adding nine and eight points, respectively.
Kanaki Harper topped the Kaua‘i Ballers 1 scoring on eight points with Limuel Julian adding three points.
Chysen Barretto topped the Kaua‘i Ballers 2 Boys Division 2 win with 13 points and Morris Unutoa adding 11 points.
D.J. Pabre topped the Westside Basketball scoring at 12 points followed by Denez Haley adding eight points.
The Boys Division 3 league continues action Monday night with three games on tap starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Girls Division 2 next take the floor, Tuesday night with two games on tap starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
