Agnes Medeiros
Agnes “Auntie Aggie” M. Medeiros of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on January 30, 2013 at her residence at the age of 86. Born on January 21, 1927 in Kapaa, Kauai, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Teves; and husband, Frank Medeiros.
She is survived by Frank (Mary Lou) Medeiros, Kapaa, Collins (Lorna) Medeiros, Kapaa; daughters, Agnes (James) Freitas, Kapaa, and Patricia Medeiros, Kapaa; sisters, Violet (Robert) Medeiros, Oahu, Edna Lopes, Oahu, and Audrey Quick, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 18 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends of the family may visit on Saturday February 16, 2013 at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapaa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until 10:45 am with mass to be celebrated at 11:00 am; Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa, Kauai.
Jacinta Ubay
Jacinta Afaga Ubay of Hanamaulu died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 1, 2013, at the age of 84. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on September 11, 1928, and retired from Wilcox Memorial Hospital as an X-ray Receptionist.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rizal M. Ubay; daughter, Beatriz A. Ubay and parents, Eusebio Afaga and Estefania Fernandez.
She is survived by her children, Aurea Fe (Rodrigo) Fernandez of Arizona, Rizal (Carina) Ubay Jr. of Australia, Cesar Ubay of Washington State, Maria Lourdes (Steven) Barton of California, May Rose (Romeo) Fernandez of Puhi, Lisa (Kenneth Carvalho) Ubay of Kilauea, Robert (Marisol) Ubay of the Philippines; Uncle, Dionicio Cadabona of Hanamaulu; sisters, Benjamina (Arsenio) Yanuaria of Oahu, Goni (Greg) Sadora of Wailua, Andrea (Jose) Ramelb of Oahu; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Bryan Cesario
Bryan D. Cesario of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii passed away December 26, 2012 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 25. Born on December 16, 1987 in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines, he was a research assistant at Pioneer Hy-bred.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rogelio Cesario Jr.
He is survived by his son, Jayden A. Cesario; parents, Rogelio and Lilia Cesario, Sr.; sisters, Celia (Ricarte) Pagaduan, Edna (Romulo) Constantino, Thelma (Arthur) Pascual, Zeny (Benyflor) Cadiz, Rocelia (Victor) Corpuz, Jozel (Marlon) Pagaduan; brothers, Jay (Criselda) Ceasario, and Josue (Joan) Cesario; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 15, 2013. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa and again on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Saint Raphaels Catholic Church, Koloa. Visitation will start at 8:00 a.m. with mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.; Burial to follow at Saint Raphaels Catholic Cemetery, Koloa.

Rafael Agonoy Acoba
Rafael Agonoy Acoba of Kekaha, Kauai, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2013 at home at the age of 90. Born to Emiliano and Isabel Acoba, on January 23, 1923 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he retired from Kekaha Sugar Co.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Afaga, Felomina Acoba, and Melicia Acoba; brothers, Francisco Acoba, Benjamin Acoba, Venancio Acoba, Eulogio Acoba, and Domingo Acoba; and brothers-in-law, Macario Afaga and Segundo Yanos.
He is survived by his wife, Inocencia Acoba; daughter, Wilma (Carlos) Medina of Eleele; sons, Cesar (Estra) Acoba of Eleele, and Abraham (Rosalee) Acoba of Kekaha; sisters, Felisa Yanos of Kekaha, Magdalena (Mariano) Yanos of Honolulu, and Polly (Josefino) Llanillo of Kalaheo; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Acoba of Kona, and Clarita Acoba of Honolulu; and five grandchildren, Heather Medina of Eleele, Charles Medina of California, Stephanie Maile Acoba of Eleele, Alyssa Perry of Kekaha, and Wendy Perry of Kekaha; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kekaha, with viewing from 8:30 am to 10:00am, and service at 10am. Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Pauline Kanoho
Pauline Annie Kanoho of Lihu’e died at home on January 27, 2013, at the age of 83. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 29, 1929 and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by parents, Paul Jr. and Annie Brede; 3 siblings, Minnie Mahoney, Paul Brede III and Esther Brede.
She is survived by her husband Ezra Kanoho; sons, Reuben “Kaipo” (Lei), Paul (Kau’i), Solomon (Sue), Ezra (Lynn); grandchildren, Paul, Chanel (David), Li’u, Kai (Tayler), Colbie, Justin, Erin, Jordan and Solly; great grandchildren, Cianan and Haweo; sisters, Beverly Medeiros and Ann (George) Leong of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Immediate family services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Kanoho family with arrangements.
Masao Tamura
Masao Tamura of Lihue, Kauai, died on January 29, 2013 at Garden Island Health Care at the age of 89. Born on July 3, 1923 in Koloa, Kauai, he was a bookkeeper with Veterans Express and was a decorated member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
He is survived by his brother, Sadao Tamura; and sister, Patsy Tamura; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavillion at 11:00 am.
No monetary gifts.

John G. Ruiz
John G. Ruiz of Kekaha, Kauai, died on February 7, 2013 at Kauai Care Center at the age of 88. Born on August 8, 1924, in Omao, Kauai, he was a retired foreman for the Transportation Department with Contractor Dynalectron at PMRF.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Parraga Ruiz; sons, Russell (Bari) Ruiz of Kekaha, and Robert (Debi) Ruiz of Waimea; brothers, David (Patsy) Ruiz, Fred (Doris) Ruiz, Frank Ruiz, and Guy (Priscilla) Ruiz; sisters, Lucy (Buddy) Kanoa, Marie Lewis, and Catherine (Manuel) Martin ;four grandchildren, Samantha (William) Sakai of Kalaheo, Lea Ruiz of Kekaha, Ivan (Tiani Kajiwara) Ruiz of Waimea, Solomon (Lehua Ham Young) Ruiz of Kekaha; three great-grandchildren, Sasha Sakai, Kaimana Sakai, and Kawena Ruiz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Setsuko Terui
Setsuko N. Terui of Kapaa, Kauai, formerly of Koloa, quietly passed on to be with her Lord on February 1, 2013 at the age of 95 at her residence. She was born on July 3, 1917 in Mana, Kauai. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chosaburo Terui.
She is survived by her sons, Edwin (Janet) Terui, Glen (Naomi) Terui, and Jerry (Karen) Terui; grandchildren, Mark (Judy) Terui, John (Rachel) Terui, Matthew (Brittany) Terui, Michael Terui; and great grandchildren, Kelly and Maile.
Celebration of Life was private.

Fusae K. Morita
Fusae K. Morita of Kapaa, Kauai, died on February 6, 2013 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 95. Born on December 28, 1917 in Kapaa Homesteads, Kauai, she was a co-proprietor of Pono Studio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kazutsugu Morita.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Gary K. (Susan) Morita of Kailua, Oahu, and Clifford K. Morita of Kapaa; daughter, Jo Ann S. Ishii of Honolulu; brothers, Katsuyoshi Kadota of Lihue, and Masato (Cora) Kadota of Kapaa; sister, Hideko Kurosaki of Lihue, and sisters-in-law, Michie Hironaka of Lihue, and Tsugie Kadota of Kapaa; brother-in-law, Fred Honda of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roberta Ann Bottorff
Roberta Ann Bottorff of Kapa’a (formerly of Portland, Oregon) died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 3, 2013, at the age of 78. She was born in Orange County, California on September 27, 1934, and was a dedicated Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Bottorff; son, Robert Bottorff; daughter, Debra Bottorff.
She is survived by George Bottorff, Elizabeth Jemison, Kathleen Merritt, Edward Bottorff, Rebecca Scott and Karin Osborn; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held privately in the summer in Portland, Oregon.

Francis X. Warther of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on January 15, 2013, he was a retired architect.
