PO‘IPU — The Beach House Restaurant in Po‘ipu has been named one of the top 37 “Most Romantic Restaurants” in the United States by Travel + Leisure magazine.
The Beach House is the sole representative of the Hawaiian Islands.
Instead of focusing on clichés like long-stemmed roses, soft lighting and strolling violinists, the criteria was based on “what’s really important: great food and wine, excellent service and an authentic ambiance,” states the magazine.
“Start with the restaurant’s signature coconut mai tai as you settle in to a ‘sunset table’ on the outdoor lana‘i overlooking Kaua‘i’s Po‘ipu Beach,” writes Sarah Storms of Travel + Leisure. “Watch whales playing in the surf, or simply focus on the flavorful Pacific Rim cuisine in front of you — lemongrass and kaffir lime-crusted sea scallops, fresh ceviche served in a coconut shell, and the molten chocolate ‘desire,’ a decadent flourless chocolate mocha tart.”
“This is a real honor for the staff, Kaua‘i and the restaurant,” The Beach House General Manager Tim Obert said in a press release. “We are thrilled with this accolade and look forward to hosting many couples … for Valentine’s Day.”
The Beach House Restaurant was also recently honored with the Hale ‘Aina Gold Award for the Best Kaua‘i Restaurant for the 13th year in a row.
Earlier this month, the readers of Travel + Leisure ranked Kaua‘i No. 4 on its list of “World’s Most Romantic Islands,” beating out all other U.S. locations.
