Necomides Pedronan
Necomides Pedronan of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on January 29, 2013, at the age of 86. He was born in Lihue, Kauai on April 10, 1926, and retired from the Lihue Plantation after 49 years as a laborer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Luisa Pedronan; brother, Elpidio Pedronan; brother-in-laws, Alfred Andrade and Lino Romares.
He is survived by his brothers, Marcello (Adele) Pedronan of Hanamaulu and Flor (Rose) Pedronan of Oahu; sisters, Nives (Thomas) Soriano and Helen Pedronan of Lihue; Susan Andrade of Lawai; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Agnes Medeiros
Agnes “Auntie Aggie” M. Medeiros of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on January 30, 2013 at her residence at the age of 86. Born on January 21, 1927 in Kapaa, Kauai, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Teves; and husband, Frank Medeiros.
She is survived by Frank (Mary Lou) Medeiros, Kapaa, Collins (Lorna) Medeiros, Kapaa; daughters, Agnes (James) Freitas, Kapaa, and Patricia Medeiros, Kapaa; sisters, Violet (Robert) Medeiros, Oahu, Edna Lopes, Oahu, and Audrey Quick, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 18 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends of the family may visit on Saturday February 16, 2013 at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapaa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until 10:45 am with mass to be celebrated at 11:00 am; Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa, Kauai.
Darrell Greenwood
Darrell “Papa” E. Greenwood of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, formerly of Spokane, Washington passed away peacefully on February 3, 2013 at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 93. Born on December 8, 1919 in Spokane, Washington, he was the sole proprietor of Greenwood Builders, master boat builder and designer. He was in the United States Army, World War II Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vera Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Greenwood, Lihue; daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Hines, Arizona, Margot (David) Milligan, Anahola, and Rebecca (Jack Kellum) Walters, Arizona; sons, Stephen Greenwood, Arizona, and David (Erica) Greenwood, Washington; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and extended family and friends. He was our greatest friend.
Celebration of life will be held in Spokane, Washington.
Arrangements were made by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa, Kauai.
Jacinta Ubay
Jacinta Afaga Ubay of Hanamaulu died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 1, 2013, at the age of 84. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on September 11, 1928, and retired from Wilcox Memorial Hospital as an X-ray Receptionist.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rizal M. Ubay; daughter, Beatriz A. Ubay and parents, Eusebio Afaga and Estefania Fernandez.
She is survived by her children, Aurea Fe (Rodrigo) Fernandez of Arizona, Rizal (Carina) Ubay Jr. of Australia, Cesar Ubay of Washington State, Maria Lourdes (Steven) Barton of California, May Rose (Romeo) Fernandez of Puhi, Lisa (Kenneth Carvalho) Ubay of Kilauea, Robert (Marisol) Ubay of the Philippines; Uncle, Dionicio Cadabona of Hanamaulu; sisters, Benjamina (Arsenio) Yanuaria of Oahu, Goni (Greg) Sadora of Wailua, Andrea (Jose) Ramelb of Oahu; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rafael Agonoy Acoba
Rafael Agonoy Acoba of Kekaha, Kauai, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2013 at home at the age of 90. Born to Emiliano and Isabel Acoba, on January 23, 1923 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he retired from Kekaha Sugar Co.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Afaga, Felomina Acoba, and Melicia Acoba; brothers, Francisco Acoba, Benjamin Acoba, Venancio Acoba, Eulogio Acoba, and Domingo Acoba; and brothers-in-law, Macario Afaga and Segundo Yanos.
He is survived by his wife, Inocencia Acoba; daughter, Wilma (Carlos) Medina of Eleele; sons, Cesar (Estra) Acoba of Eleele, and Abraham (Rosalee) Acoba of Kekaha; sisters, Felisa Yanos of Kekaha, Magdalena (Mariano) Yanos of Honolulu, and Polly (Josefino) Llanillo of Kalaheo; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Acoba of Kona, and Clarita Acoba of Honolulu; and five grandchildren, Heather Medina of Eleele, Charles Medina of California, Stephanie Maile Acoba of Eleele, Alyssa Perry of Kekaha, and Wendy Perry of Kekaha; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kekaha, with viewing from 8:30 am to 10:00am, and service at 10am. Burial will follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Marylyn Gerardo
Marylyn Kapualani Gerardo of Hanamaulu passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 6, 2013, at the age of 41. She was born in Lihue on October 27, 1971 and was formerly employed as the front desk assistant manager with Kauai Beach Resort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Gerardo.
She is survived by her lifetime companion, Jerry Aquias; two sons, Austin Aquias and Isaiah Aquias; one daughter, Jaslyn Aquias; seven siblings, Joyce (Terry) Daligdig, James K. Gerardo, Alison (Clayton Sr.,) Silva, Brenda (Rey) Coloma, Alan Gerardo, Kathy (Mathew) Louis, Brian (Shanell) Gerardo; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 23. 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Dorothy C. Powers
Dorothy C. Powers of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on January 26, 2013 at the age of 92. Born on February 8, 1920 in Columbus, Ohio, she was a County Administrator for Franklin County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto “Bud” Powers.
She is survived by her son, William Powers.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday February 14, 2013 at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with mass to be celebrated at 9:15 a.m.; burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire.

Claudia Mae Ledford
Claudia Mae Ledford of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, formerly of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on February 02, 2013 at her residence. Born in Morganton, North Carolina on November 14, 1930, she was a retired nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Josephine Taylor; husband, Ray Everett; and son, Barry Ledford.
She is survived by her son, Randall (Karen Young) Ledford, Lihue; brother, Benjamin Taylor, North Carolina; and 4 grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held in South Carolina.

Elsie Bandmann Carreira
Elsie Bandmann Carreira of Honolulu, HI passed away on February 5, 2013 at Leahi Hospital, Honolulu, HI at the age of 94. Born on February 4, 1919 in Kealia, Kauai, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Phillip Carreira.
She is survived by her three children, Veronica Carreira, Maurice (Kathy) Carreira, and Valerie (John) Pringle; six grandchildren, Tammie (Kendall) Kaleikini, Candace (Nelson) Kalahiki, Robert Jr Kalahiki, Todd Kalahiki, Holly (Josh) Saito Kantor, and Maile Gorion; seven great-grandchildren, Cheyanne (Chad) Thompson, Noel Kaleikini, Jessie Kaleikini, Logan Kalahiki Boyce, Donovan Kalahiki Boyce, Naavah Kantor, and Kai Kantor; and two great-great grandchildren, Lilly Thompson, and Brayden Thompson.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Borthwick – Mauka, 1330 Maunakea Street, Honolulu, HI. Viewing will begin at 3:30 PM with service to follow at 430 PM; Burial will take place at Kealia, Kauai, at St Catherine’s Kealia Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb 19, 2013 at 11 AM.
Family insists either casual or aloha attire will be fine. Arrangements were made by Borthwick Mortuary in Honolulu and Kauai.
