Kudos to BobCazet, the state coordinator for Alumni Football USA, on a great event the past two weeks!
Last weekend was a bust since there was Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation boys basketball, but Saturday was free and clear to watch the Waimea alumni zero out Kaua‘i, 43-0.
Jason Fujinaka got to the game right on time (he even got to do the Polar Plunge with Ron Wood earlier in the day) and Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was like Laura Haack and the Waimea band who was able to break away from the Burns Supper and still make the game for the coin toss.
Arthur Brun — he was the game announcer — kept taking about Shawn McGurn and the National Football League, and above everyone, you definitely could hear Billy DeCosta.
Wendy Tannery said she was going to be working the food booth for Kaua‘i All Girl Rodeo Association, and the roast pork must’ve been good since a lot of people from the Waimea side (they had shoyu chicken) came over for the ono grinds.
OK, time to go check out Stacie Chiba-Miguel and the “Flavors of Kukui‘ula.”
