LIHU‘E — One of Kaua‘i’s favorite Valentine’s Day traditions is also an incredibly scrumptious way to support Kaua‘i’s youth.
Sponsored by the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i Foundation, the 20th annual “Eat Dessert First” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort.
The event will feature delightful and delectable desserts from local restaurants, hotels, chefs, friends and neighbors, including The Right Slice, Sweet Marie’s, Hukilau Lanai, Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa, Kaua‘i Chocolate Co., Regency at Puakea and more.
A selection of sugar- and gluten-free items will be available, as well as fruit, vegetable, cheese and cracker platters. The Kaua‘i Coffee Co. and a no-host bar will provide refreshments. A large silent auction and prize drawing will offer opportunities to take home gifts for you and your special Valentine.
The majority of proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward scholarships for seniors at Kaua‘i High School, as well as women re-entering the workforce at Kaua‘i Community College.
Live island-style music will be provided by Cruz Control, a band that has performed for the last six years from Hanalei to Kekaha. Band members Frank Cruz, Randell Giminiz, Chad Delanoza and Kepa Kruse will entertain the audience with a variety of genres, including island contemporary, Hawaiian and rhythm and blues, as well as today’s top 40s hits.
Tickets for “Eat Dessert First” cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Children age 4 and under get in for free.
Advance tickets can be purchased from Deja Vu Surf Outlet (Kapa‘a), Hairmates (Lihu‘e), Island Hardware (Princeville), Kalaheo Cafe & Coffee Co. (Kalaheo), Kaua‘i Chocolate Co. (‘Ele‘ele), Pictures Plus (Kukui Grove Center, Lihu‘e), Savage Pearls (Hanalei), The Wine Shop (Koloa), Vicky’s Fabrics (Kapa‘a) or from any Zonta Club of Kaua‘i member.
