If you’re a pelican in Hawai‘i, you’re really lost said Gail Little (as in small) who plays with the Lost Pelican Band (they were outside Tropical Tantrum during January’s First Saturday in Kapa‘a).
Gail, who also helps Chef Helen Lacono with the soups at the Kaua‘i Culinary Market in The Shops at Kukui‘ula, said the Lost Pelican Band is actually named after The Lost Pelican, a seafood restaurant in Durango, Colorado (seafood? Durango? That’s lost!).
Jim Moffat, owner of Living Foods, is not lost. He’s getting excited about setting up a grill for The Taste of Kukui‘ula, an expanded version of the weekly market, next Wednesday.
Stacy Chiba said they’ll be open an hour later (until 7 p.m.) and most of the restaurants will be offering Kaua‘i-grown tapas from 4 p.m.
Chef Mak Arriola of Merriman’s was demonstrating Edamame and Chickpea Hummus, but that’s not going to be on the menu next week.
Sharron Weber was like an excited child, getting her first experience at The Shops at Kukui‘ula when she joined Laurie Lei Lizarraga and Markus for dinner at Josselin’s Tapas Bar & Grill.
