This week, KIF wrestling moves to Waimea High School, said Bobby Kamakele. Jon Kobayashi showed up in Kapa‘a to get a feel for what is going to happen.
Reggie McCabe was everywhere — starting with wrestling, on to soccer (hats off to Kaua‘i coach Reiko Yoshida and the girls for getting past Sacred Hearts!) and finally at the boys basketball game.
Calvin Paleka wasn’t as fortunate, starting with wrestling and ending at soccer since he couldn’t get to basketball. But Calvin and coach Rich Colipano have a thing about doing the Dew at 7-11 before making the run back to the Eastside.
If you’ve got a window, Turk Tokita, Kazuma “Monty” Nishiie and Jiro Yukimura will be at the Kaua‘i Museum on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to talk story. If you’re really lucky, maybe Hobie Goodale will show up, too.
The three veterans, one each from the 442nd BCT, the 100th Btn and the MIS, will be hosted by Pam Brown, writer of Kaua‘i Stories, Jane Gray and her Kaua‘i Museum ‘ohana.
