Happy birthday Sandi Kato-Klutke, who celebrated her special day by giving $3,000 to the Kaua‘i Community College culinary arts department! Actually, Sandi was representing the Hawai‘i Lodging and Tourism Association, Kaua‘i Chapter who was hosting its golf tournament to benefit the Visitor Industry Charity Walk.
Chef Guy Higa was out early with about a dozen Kaua‘i CC students since he had to make a window to coach Team Central basketball, and Steven Yannarell also needed a window to go check out Island School’s final soccer game.
Chef Guy will be back at the Kaua‘i CC, Feb. 13 for the annual American Culinary Federation Breakfast (tickets are on sale, now at the KCC cafeteria).
And then, there was the window for the Ocean Count where Mike Kano headed up the Ninini Point counters and John Burger had the crew at Kealia Point (real nice breach to the north).
Jeff Venzon is the chair for the East Kaua‘i Lions who will have its pancake breakfast on March 3 (that’s Girls Day!). Check with him for tickets since Debbie Matsumoto is almost out after selling at the Lions Recycle for Sight Saturday.
