LIHU‘E — Brownie Crunch Nibbles, Chocolate Haupia Nibbles and Golden Shortbread Nibbles are some of the flavors of School Kine Cookies, which are being sold by students of the Elsie Wilcox Elementary School.
“Our students are selling cookies with pick up on Feb. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wilcox School,” said Ruthie Omoto, the Wilcox Elementary School PTSA president. “Along with the cookie pick up, the school will be having its annual school carnival, which runs from 4 to 8 p.m.”
Omoto said the public is invited to share in excitement of the carnival, which will be enhanced with the offering of a variety of games, rides, food, activities, entertainment and more.
“All funds raised at the carnival go straight back to Wilcox Elementary,” Omoto said. “Wilcox School students will be able to continue programs, some of which have been affected by state and federal budget cuts, which are ongoing at the school.”
Omoto said proceeds from the carnival will help provide assistance to Wilcox Elementary School students in the areas of technology, tutoring, HSA Incentives while helping teachers with materials they need to expand on their curriculum.
The Wilcox Elementary School PTSA also provides school planners, bus fare for excursions, teacher and volunteer appreciation, Caught Being Good program, Family Movie Night, Math and Science Night, Creative Arts Program, and numerous other programs which benefit the school’s students.
Omoto said the Wilcox Elementary School PTSA is also looking for people in the community, which includes parents of children currently attending Wilcox School, who would be interested in serving as a Wilcox School PTSA Board Member.
All positions are open for the upcoming school year and each position holds a two-year term.
“Our current president, vice president, treasurer and secretary would like to be able to train and walk through with the new board members for a few months,” Omoto said.
