Joseph ‘Joe’ Stoddard
Joseph Scott “Joe” Stoddard of Wailua, Hawaii passed away on December 23, 2012 at Straub Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 91. Born on June 4, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was Partner/Owner, Designer and Manufacturer of Fine wood office furniture in Los Angeles, California before moving to Kauai in 1990; Draftsman Douglas Aircraft, El Segundo, California; and Leut. j.g. United States Navy, served aboard an aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain, CV-39.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia “Gini” Stoddard; daughter, Janet Brindley (Kim) of Wailua Homesteads; Richard Stoddard (Cher) of Beatty, Nevada; and grandsons, James Jackman of Placentia, California, and Jason Jackman of Redlands, California.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Lihue United Church (behind King Auto). Gathering will begin at 1:30 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm.
Family requests aloha attire. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grove Farm Homestead Museum or The Kauai Historical Society.
Harwood Danford ‘Dan’ Williamson
Harwood Danford “Dan” Williamson of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on January 18, 2013, at the age of 81. Born on January 7, 1932, in Waimea, Kauai, he retired as president and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alys and V. Adm. Thomas B. Williamson, and by his son, Warren.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Honolulu; son, Dr. Thomas B. (Mary) of Kauai; daughter, Julie (Christopher) Minson of Oregon; brother, Thomas G. (Glenda) of California; two grandchildren, four nieces, and one nephew.
Private services. Memorial donations may be made to the Danford Friend Fund, an endowed scholarship at Kauai Community College, through the University of Hawaii Foundation, PO Box 11270, Honolulu, Hawaii 96828.
Katherine Preston
Katherine DeVictoria Preston of Lihue passed away on December 19, 2012 at the age of 79. Born in Maui on January 7, 1933, she was a waitress at Coco Palms Hotel as well as a technician with Fair Child Technologies.
She was preceded in death by her father, John DeVictoria; mother, Mary Santiago Lopez DeVictoria; Donald J. Christian; ex-husband, Jack Preston; companion, Norbert Hauser; brothers, Conrad and Aurthor De Victoria; and son, Jesse Christian.
She is survived by Pandora Christian; Mark Christian, Michelle Preston; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Lihue Baptist. Visitation will begin at 11-11:30 am with services to follow; light refreshments after.
Another service and burial will be held on Molokai at a later date.
