Hats off to Annaleah Atkinson on a great Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Monday at the Kukui Grove Center.
Was great running into Keith Kitamura and all his Kapa‘a High School Peer Mediation students (Adarah Fujita was a Peace Maker Award recipient — congratulations to dad, Coach Brandon Fujita!).
Kudos to the Kalawai Baseball Association on bringing back the Pinto Baseball Tournament over the weekend, as well. Lenny Rapozo was tremendous…not only as the director of the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation, but getting hands-on as a coach for one of the Pinto teams.
That kind of experience is priceless…hands-on as not only a coach, but official for football and basketball as well.
And, we know baseball is around the corner because Waimea coach Michael Rita has his team and coaching staff helping with officiating the tournament.
Last week, we got to see Kaua‘i coach Ryden “Roach” Domingsel meeting retiring coach Hank Ibia, and Kapa’a’s coach Bryan Aiwohi was at the Nate Trosky clinic coordinated by Waimea’s Larry Ephan.
