LIHU‘E — The Department of Water will bill its customers on a monthly basis instead of bi-monthy beginning Jan. 22, according to a county news release. DOW officials say the change was made to provide better customer service.
The conversion will bring about the following changes:
• Customers who subscribe to automatic bill payment services will have their payments deducted from their designated bank accounts each month instead of every two months.
• Full payment will be due 20 days after the billing date.
• Minimum payment by the due date is no longer an option.
• The phrase “Payment Due Date” on the water bills will be changed to “Payment Must Reach By.”
• Accounts will be assigned a new 10-digit number, which will replace the previous 14-digit account number.
The DOW asks for the public’s patience during the transition, especially on Friday when the billing staff will be recording all transactions manually.
To avoid delays with processing payments and applications, the DOW offers the following advice:
• New customers and those that opt to pay their bills in person this week are advised to come in before Friday.
• Customers who come in to pay their water bill with a check are encouraged to use the drop box located at the front of the Water Department office.
• Customers should remit their bill stubs when submitting payment to ensure proper processing of their account.
Anyone with questions about the new billing system can visit the DOW website at www.kauaiwater.org or call 245-5400 between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday to Friday.
