WAILUA — Latino or not, you are invited to share in the food, fun and dance during the 2nd Annual Latino Festival today in Wailua.
The event is from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Lydgate State Park pavilion.
Last year more than 100 people participated in the event, hailing from as far away as Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil, according to organizer Amelia Ramirez.
This year we expect an even bigger turnout, she said.
Ramirez, who is originally from Bolivia, started the event last year with her husband Freddy, originally from Colombia.
She said it is all about having fun and sharing the Latino culture.
Participants are encouraged to bring a dish to share during the potluck-style dinner.
“Come enjoy and taste different foods from each country,” Ramirez said.
Zumba dancing will begin at 5 p.m. with a guest instructor. Musical entertainment will be provided by Wally Rita & Los Kauaianos — Kaua‘i’s own kachi-kachi band — followed by DJs spinning Latino music.
