WAIMEA — Several thousand people crowded the streets of Waimea town Saturday, anticipating the annual Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade hosted by the West Kaua‘i Professional and Business Association.
Leanna Gautney, president of the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i, said there were a number of things people could do while waiting on the start of the annual lighted extravaganza. “We had several sponsors pick up Easter Seals gingerbread houses and give them to the St. Theresa School and the Waimea Baptist School to build,” Gautney said. “The completed houses were voted on by the public and will be auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting the Easter Seals who recently opened its West Kaua‘i center in the old dispensary.”
