LIHU‘E — A silent prayer and vigil for the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut will kick off tonight’s “A Christmas Wish: Kids Helping Kids” fundraiser concert.
The event is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. tonight at The Jam Room, located next to Game Stop at Kukui Grove Center, and will raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kaua‘i.
Madison is the featured guest performer.
The 14-year-old, ‘ukulele-guitar strumming singer/songwriter made her debut in March, with two songs, “Shy Girl” and “Those Boys,” according to a news release.
Madison’s uncle, Tyler Riley, will accompany her on the cajon, a percussion instrument. She will be selling CDs and signing autographs following her performance.
Fifty traditional handcrafted kendamas from Japan will be available for a $20 donation. The first 25 donors will also receive a special gift. Santa secret grab bags will be available for $1, $2, $5 and $10 and include gifts from Japan.
In addition, a world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao collectible doll and a Kaua‘i Norfolk pine tree, donated by Kalaheo Flowers, will be auctioned to the highest bidder.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kaua‘i.
The Jam Room host Daphne Sanchez will conduct a free drawing for prizes, including certificates from Tutti Frutti, Orange Grove Frozen Yogurt and Starbucks, as well as gifts and candies.
Former Pink Pebbles Crew dancer Andrew Pascual, who is home from attending Kapi‘olani College in O‘ahu, will be showcasing the latest hip hop dance moves during the event.

The Jam Room, which opened in 2009, is a free venue for Kaua‘i’s young musicians and dancers to showcase their talents in a safe and secure environment.
