Ke‘e — Kaua‘i police will be reopening Kuhio Highway at Limahuli at 6 p.m., allowing vehicular access to Ke‘e Beach. However, access to the Kalalau Trail from the Kē‘ē Beach trailhead remains closed until further notice while officers continue their search for Justin Wynn Klein.
Klein has been at-large since an incident Sunday afternoon, where a woman was reportedly thrown from a cliff near Kalalau Beach. The woman, a 31-year-old Japanese visitor, remains in critical condition at Wilcox Hospital.
Klein, age 37, is described as a Caucasian male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, with brown hair in a Mohawk style, possibly a moustache and a beard, and a band style tattoo around his left arm.
Klein is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
As a matter of safety, the public is urged to avoid the area.
The closure allows law enforcement to continue their search for wanted suspect Justin Wynn Klein. CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who provides information resulting in Klein’s arrest.
Anyone with information on Klein’s whereabouts is asked to call the Kaua‘i Police Department at 241-1711. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling CrimeStoppers at 241-1887.
