Romulo Balbin
Romulo Andres Balbin of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on November 28, 2012, at the age of 68. He was born in Luna, Isabela, Philippines on July 2, 1944, and was employed by the County of Kauai with Parks & Recreation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Balbin; brothers, Alfonso and Rudy Balbin; and sister, Editha Balbin.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Balbin of Lihue; three sons, Rendell Balbin, Ronald (Cora) Balbin, Romell (Bobble-Sue) Balbin all of Lihue; three grandchildren, Ryland Balbin, Isaiah Pascua Balbin, Asia Balbin; siblings, Venancio (Magdalena) Balbin, Rosalia (John) Pagulayan, Pacita Villanueva, Manoling Balbin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Wake services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 6pm to 9pm, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Rosary starts at 7:00 pm.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m, and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Crisogono Melchor
Crisogono Simeon Melchor died peacefully on December 7, 2012 at his home in Omao at age 92. Born in the Philippines on November 21, 1920, he retried as a Broiler Operator from McBryde Sugar Mill in Koloa on March 22, 1982. He participated in the 2011 Koloa Plantation Days Parade as one of the oldest living 1946 Filipino Immigrant “Sakada” on Kauai.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Juana Melchor; brothers, Eugenio Melchor, Pomocino Melchor, Inocencio Melchor, and Pedro Melchor; brothers-in-law, Lauriano Gaoiran, and Ernesto Asuncion.
He is survived by his wife, Emilia Melchor of Omao; sons, Constante (Kay) Melchor of California, Tony (Diane) Melchor of Koloa; five grandchildren, Clinton (Leslie) Melchor of California, Cyrus Melchor of California, Tyson Melchor of Koloa, Kendrick Melchor of Koloa, Diandra Melchor of Oahu; brothers and sisters, Artemio (Rose) Melchor of Omao, Crispina Gaoiran of Koloa, Anacleto (Soledad) Melchor of Koloa, Rosa Melchor of Koloa, Ben (Amie) Melchor of Koloa, Manuel (Flora) Melchor of Koloa, Florita Asuncion of Koloa, Geranimo (Carrie) Melchor of Oahu; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Rafael Church, Koloa. Visitation will be from 8:30 am to 10:30 am with mass to follow at 11:00 am; Burial to follow at St. Raphael Church Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Aileen Oshiro
Aileen Jean Oshiro (Rivera) of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on December 12, 2012 at the age of 71. Born in Lihue on June 9, 1941, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Mary Rivera.
She is survived by her husband, Sanford K. Oshiro; daughter, Melanie (Milton) Ching; daughter, Kim (Darren) Costales; son, Kevin K. (Lehua) Christian; brothers, Paul K. (Sandy) Rivera of Oregon, Thomas (Pamela) Rivera of Michigan; sister, Barbara (William) Cummings of Washington; grandchildren, Kainani, Milikona, Kamuela Ching, Ashlynne, Anthony, Ansen Costales, and Aulana Christian; and great-grandchildren, Trislyn and Zoie Costales.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with mass to follow at 10:00 am; burial (ashes) will be interned at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Dianne Naihe
Dianne Marie Naihe of Ukapia, Wailua, Kauai, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the age of 53. Dianne was born on October 30, 1959, at Cherry Point North Carolina. A teacher and social worker, Dianne also volunteered at Alzheimer Kauai Chapter, Friendship House Kauai and was a waitress at Joe’s on the Green for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles A. Naihe; sons, Mahi’ai Richard Naihe of Kinipopo, Kauai, Lawai’a Edward Naihe of Heber Utah, Pahoa Maikalani Naihe of Anahola Kauai, Ihe Maikalani of Kerns Utah; grandsons, Arthur Vinhaca Jr. of Kinipopo Kauai, Aulai Naihe of Kalaheo Mauka Kauai; granddaughters, Kinohi and Ka’ua Naihe of Wailua Mauka; father, John Joseph McCarthy (June) of Tustin California; brothers, Brian (Michelle) McCarthy; nephews Sean and Mathew of Tustin, California, Paul (Sherry) McCarthy; nieces, Amanda and Courtney of Southern California, Michael McCarthy and Kimmy Worley of Venice Beach California; sisters, Karen (Rod) Edmondson; nephew Travis; grandniece, Leila Hensley of Huntington Beach California, Carol Montgomery; nephews, Aaron and Ian of Orange County California

Mitsuko Wada
Mitsuko Noda Wada of Lihue, Kauai, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2012. She was born in Kohala, Hawaii on March 21, 1928. She was employed by the State of Hawaii as a Medical Technician at Mahelona Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Warren Wada; son, David (Laverne) Wada; daughters, Joy (Wayne) Wakumoto and Janelle Wada; sisters, Kiyoko Noda, Tsuyuko (Richard) Verona, and Namiko Patrick; brother-in-law, Jacob (Ethel) Wada; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Wayne) Yoshida; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Wailua Marina Restaurant at 6pm.

A. Hiett Ward
A. Hiett Ward of Princeville passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on December 16, 2012, at the age of 82. He was born in Ohio on July 15, 1930, and retired as a Marketing Executive with Chevron after 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon “Shari” Ward of Princeville; daughters, Debbie (Dave) Asmus and Sandra Ward, both of Texas; step-sons, David (Misty) Pugh and Steven (Jennifer) Pugh both of San Francisco Bay; and 2 grandsons.
Private memorial services were held.

Hatsuyo Kamiya
Hatsuyo Kamiya of Kekaha passed away at KVMH on December 9, 2012, at the age of 91. Born on March 24, 1921, she was a loving wife, sister, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Genichi Kamiya.
She is survived by her son, Warren Kamiya of Kekaha; daughters, Rachael Tafua of Kekaha and Janice (Rodney) Yamakawa of Mililani; brother, Yasuo (Hatsuko) Taba of Kalaheo; sister, Shizue (George) Tachikawa of Honolulu; six grandchildren, Francis Tafua, Daniel (Malia) Tafua, Jonell (Vernon) Kaohelaulii, Jannah Tafua, Allyson Yamakawa, and Christy Yamakawa; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10 am at the Veteran’s Cemetery.
