HANAPEPE — Analeigha Carvalho-Toloai netted two goals to lead the Kapa‘a Junior Varsity girls soccer team to a 6-0 win over Waimea, Thursday at the Hanapepe Stadium.
In a second game played in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation soccer season, the Kaua‘i High School JV girls blanked the Island School Voyagers, 3-0 in an exhibition match at Vidinha Stadium.
Red Scovel, Wailana Gandeza and K. Taniguchi netted goals for the Kaua‘i JV squad in the exhibition matchup.
Sara Morimoto proved a master on the line, working the ball along the stripe against the strong crosswind in Hanapepe and crossing to the middle where Taylor Kaneakua scored one of the early goals.
Morimoto continued the antics on the wing, moving the ball upfield and crossing to either Kaneakua, Ariel Cummings, or Ha‘aheo Mahinai, Cummings coming up with a goal in the second half of the match.
Similarly, Rylie Goodrich and Lanie Denton did wing duty on the leftside while Stephanie Cram, getting the sole Kapa‘a score against Kaua‘i, Saturday, served as defensive stopper in the first half.
Following goals by Carvalho-Tololai, Kaneakua and Cummings, the JV Warriors got nets from Rukiyah Walker and Cali MacMillian.
With the win, the JV Warrior wahine next face Island School in an exhibition match starting at 12:30 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
The varsity Kapa‘a boys will host Island School in a 10 a.m. match.
The Menehune will be hosting Kaua‘i High School to four matches with the JV boys kicking off at 10 a.m. followed by the JV girls at 11:45 a.m. at Hanapepe Stadium.
The varsity boys kick off at 1:30 p.m. followed by the varsity girls at 3:30 p.m.
The first of the evening games, following the ending of the Newell Shearwater fledging season will take place Thursday at Vidinha Stadium when Kaua‘i and Kapa‘a will square off for two games, the JV boys starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by the JV girls starting at 6:15 p.m.
