KAPA‘A — A car accident Monday night closed the bypass road temporarily as police searched for the driver at the scene.
Kaua‘i Police officers responded to a traffic collision reported at 7:28 p.m. Monday. The driver of a white, Dodge Neon collided with a fence and a road sign along the southbound lane of the Kapa‘a Bypass Road, near Calvary Chapel.
The 22-year-old female driver from Waimea did not report any injuries, according to County Public Information Assistant Sarah K. Blane. There were no passengers at the time of the collision and no other vehicles were involved.
The southbound lane of the Bypass road was closed for approximately 45 minutes while a tow truck cleared the roadway.
