LIHU‘E — The Department of Water has lifted the water conservation request for Hanapepe and ‘Ele‘ele that was generated following Tuesday’s storms, according to a county news release. The request was necessary due to a power failure which affected source wells in the Hanapepe Valley.
Note that a previously issued water conservation request for Kalaheo residents, due to repair and maintenance work on the Kalaheo Nursery tank, remains in effect. The impacted areas include: the mauka side of Kaumuali‘i Highway from Wawae to Opu Road including La‘e, Pu‘uwai; Kikala, Kuli roads; and all side streets off these roads.
While the Kalaheo work is being done, customers in the affected and surrounding areas are urged to conserve water and restrict water consumption to essential uses. These measures may prevent the depletion of the limited water supply.
Essential needs include: cooking; bathing; and toilet flushing.
Residents are asked to notify their family, friends, and neighbors that will be affected by the conservation request.
