LIHU‘E — Twenty-three competitors from Hawai‘i, California, Nevada and Virginia entered the 2012 Aloha Classic held Saturday at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center. Kevin Jones, owner of Power Plus Personal Training and a competitive bodybuilder and power lifter, put together a team from Kaua‘i, who competed in men’s bodybuilding, women’s physique, women’s figure, bikini divas and teen fitness events.
Jones’ team spent months training and following strict dietary regulations, and it paid off. Cindy Oda, 48, took first place in the masters figure and second place in the masters bikini diva; Naea Oda, 16, won first place in teen fitness.
More winners include Cissy Edwards, 29, who took second place in the bikini divas and third place in women’s figure; and Jones, 49, who took third place in masters bodybuilding.
It was an all-natural event, drug-tested and sponsored by the combined Amateur Bodybuilding Association; International Natural Bodybuilding Association; and Professional Natural Bodybuilding Association. This combo is the fastest growing natural organization in the world All athletes were tested using International Olympic Committee standards, and the World Anti Doping Agency was used to test athletes’ urine, blood and hair samples.
Says Jones, “This will be an annual event to be held on the first Saturday in December.”
